One night the constable gives chase to three suspicious men including Crummit, but they turn on him and give the gallant policeman a thrashing. Afterwards one of the neighbours reports a burglary though nothing has been stolen. Evans suspects Crummit but because he has been promoted to sergeant for his bravery for confronting the three men, he won’t be living next to Crummit for much longer.
