Dorothy Cumming
(1895 – 1983)
Born in New South Wales, Australia, Dorothy Cumming played character roles mainly in silent films between 1915 and 1929. She appeared in 39 American, English, and Australian films in that period, notably appearing as the Virgin Mary in Cecil B. De Mille’s 1927 film The King of Kings. She also appeared in stage productions in those same countries. Often cast as stern, unbending women.
