James Knight’s first film appearances included: The Happy Warrior (1917), Nature’s Gentleman (1918), Big Money (1918) and The Power of Right (1919).

In the 1920’s he was at the height of his career. He played roles in films like Love in the Welsh Hills (1920), One Moment’s Temptation (1922), The Lady Owner (1923), Claude Duval (24), Woodcroft Castle (26), Regaining the Wind (26), Mr. Nobody (1927), Maria Marten (1928) and Power Over Men (1929).

In the talkies of the 1930’s and 1940’s, he played minor parts, some for Alfred Hitchcock – The Man Who Knew Too Much (1934) and The 39 Steps (1935).right up to 1946.
